This afternoon I was interviewed at the studios of the Voice of America (VOA) in Washington, D.C. about -- surprise! -- camera phones. It was a fairly wide ranging interview, but I'm sure it will edited and since the VOA is forbidden by law to broadcast programs in the United States, I'm not sure whether I'll hear it.
However, I did pick up an interesting tidbit about camera phones from a VOA employee. His wife is a professional photographer and uses a camera phone to transmit photos to her editor. The photos aren't for publication but for the editor to approve the type of photos, such as shooting a building from a specific angle.
The camera phone photos sent to the editor provide assurance to the photographer that she's on the "right track" in how she's approaching a photo session. It's one more business application that I'm sure the originators of camera phones didn't think about.
