In the "what will they think of next" department, I learned from venture capitalist Joi Ito's Weblog that Macromedia Flash expert and gadget lover, Phillip M. Torrone, has configured to Sony Akibo robot dog to moblog. You may see the photos (see below) on his textamerica site.
The photos won't win any prizes. They're in the category of "I can do it so I will." However, the concept of using robots and other mechanical devices to take photos and post them to the Internet has fascinating possibilities.
Programming your Akibo to wander around the house and take photos certainly could serve a useful security function. But most people aren't buying robot dogs. But they do buy Webcams, they do have WiFi equipment to link Webcams and they do have camera phones that can take and view images.
From the geek experiments of today come the consumer and business products of tomorrow.
