Ohio University in Athens, Ohio is exploring the legal ramifications of camera phone use, according to an article in The Athens News. The newspaper reports the university's legal department has asked for guidelines from the Ping Recreation Center and asked the WellWorks wellness center to address privacy concerns.
The Athens News quotes Kim Valentour, director of WellWorks, who says, "We were asked to draft a cell-phone policy and decided they should not be permitted (to be used) in the facility or its locker rooms." Students are not members of WellWorks and the facility has had no problems with camera phone usage.
The article says the university's legal department might draft policies, but so far various school organizations deal with camera phones in their own ways.
