Siemens has posted a slew of press releases during CeBIT, and some of those announcements relate to camera phones. Although many of the releases discuss news the company previously released, one caught my eye -- a game for camera phones.
The C65 camera phone (VGA) include "Photopet," a game that entails "feeding" a virtual pet with photos in order to keep it alive. Virtual pet games on cellular phones have been a big hit in many countries.
There isn't any other information about Photopet, but it highlights, once again, the variety of services that are being developed to take advantage of camera phones. It also ties in with an article I posted yesterday about "continuous" game play where you are able to play the same (more or less) game on a host of devices, ranging from cellular phones to desktop PCs.
Photos transmitted to a TV
"Share pictures with a group by sending your holiday snapshots to your TV and running a slide show for your family.
"The box combines high quality digital interactive TV and wireless broadband communication in one small device, which opens a world of entertainment and films either from broadcast stations or delivered via the Internet on demand.
"Info services like local weather information as well as t-commerce suppliers can be accessed comfortably via the remote control. Incoming calls are displayed on the TV screen leaving you the option to interrupt the film and take the call or reject the call to resume the TV pleasure undisturbed."
Nokia's Image Viewer
Siemens isn't the only company to come up with the idea of transferring camera phone photos to TV. Nokia last year announced its Image Viewer (see below) that connects to a TV via one cable and enables camera phones to transfer photos and videos to the box, via Bluetooth, for display on a TV.
As I've written many times before, all this highlights the huge opportunities are being created within the camera phone ecosystem. People who look at camera phones and dismiss them just don't understand how this business is evolving.
hey i think that you guys should make it so that people can downlosd the game :)
