Kazuo Nakai, regional corporate vice-president, of Sony Ericsson said in Singapore that camera phones are a major driver for improving the wireless business around the world, according to an article in South Africa's Mail & Guardian. "This is the beginning of a new replacement cycle," Nakai said while introducing a new line of Sony Ericsson handsets in Singapore.
Sony Ericsson has forecast that 30 percent of cellular phones sold around the world in 2004 will include cameras.

Another article, from Reuters, notes that Sony Ericsson today introduced five new cellular phones -- all the cameras --including the S700 with a 1.3 megapixel camera (see next article).
Sony Ericsson says 55 million camera phones will sold last year. The company says 8.3 billion picture messages are expected to be transmitted worldwide this year.
