A bill passed by the Iowa legislature that imposes penalties for taking camera phone photos of a nude or partially nude person without his or her consent is awaiting signature by the state's governor, Tom Vilsack, according to an article in the Iowa State Daily.
One provision of the bill says, "a person who knowingly views, photographs, or films another person -- without their consent or knowledge -- while the other person is in a state of full or partial nudity, commits invasion of privacy."
A year ago the bill passed the Iowa House unanimously. An Iowa state senator says he believe the governor will sign the bill into law.
Health club bans
The reporter, Ryan M. Melton, interviewed representatives of two Iowa health clubs. Both ban camera phones in locker rooms and bathrooms. The manager of one health club said his insurance company in January 2004 recommended he post signs prohibiting camera phones in locker rooms.
This is the first time I've heard about an insurance company issuing such a recommendation. Has anyone heard of this?
