Alcatel has launched its first clamshell-shaped camera phone in Taiwan, reports Taiwan News. The One Touch (OT) 835 handset includes a "video photo ID" capability that displays a five-second video linked to the caller's phone number. You could record a video of the person or any video and link it to a specific phone number. This is the sort of fun stuff that encourage the use of camera phones/video phones and stimulates more innovative ideas.
The handset's second, external screen can be turned into a mirror -- for self-portraits -- by pushing a button and then pushing the button a second time to take a photo.
Asian camera phone vendors have been offering mirror functionality for a while, but being able to use the large screen mirror is an advantage for taking self-portraits of individuals or groups.
The Alcatel handset includes a variety photo enhancement features, including editing the photo with contrasting colors, selecting a "fuzzy" mode or picking "oil painting" or "sunset" effects. The handset also comes with different borders and frames, including solid colors, stripes and patterns.
The OT835 will be available on June first and sell for 12,500 Taiwanese dollars ($370).
