Moby Picture, a new camera phone photo sharing service (see below) -- similar to MyQPU, that I just wrote about -- is slated to be launched in The Netherlands on June 1, notes Rogier van Duyn.
Moby Picture will be in Dutch, initially, but the company expects to offer services for Belgium, Germany and the U.K.
Moby Picture will offer moblogs and a paid service for broadcasting photos to individuals or groups. Photos may be sent from handset-to-handset and from handset-to-e-mail.
Pricing
Transmitting photos via e-mail will be free. Transmitting photos to cellular phones will be .15 Euros ($.18) to .28 Euros ($.34) Every photo transmitted will be stored in the individual's moblog, Mobylog.
Users also may follow other Mobylogs and receive photos automatically when they are posted. Moby Picture is talking to celebrities about establishing Mobylogs so their fans can follow their activities.
Contests and broadcasting services
Also, the company is developing contests and different broadcasting services. One service might be transmitting photos of European soccer matches. Entering contests will be free. (MyQPU will charge users to enter contests.)
When it's launched next month, Moby Picture will offer a free, very limited, trial service.
