Sixspace's long delayed camera phone art exhibit, SENT, is finally beginning to deliver. You may now view camera phone photos online that have been sent by members of the public (see below) to the e-mal address submit@sentonline.com.
Images from the "invited" artists will be displayed at the Los Angeles gallery beginning July 9.
The "artists" -- who include performer and writer "Weird Al" Yaknovic, actor Wil Wheaton, entrepreneur (MicroSolutions, Broadcast.com) and Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban and writer Warren Ellis -- were given Motorola V600 camera phones.
Banality and creativity
Xeni Jardin, writer and a developer of SENT, discusses it in a Weblog entry on boingboing.
It's great that art galleries are promoting camera phones (often with a bit of "encouragement" from corporate sponsors). While most of the images from the public are banal, some show creativity.
Another gallery, Rx Gallery, also is now sponsoring an exhibit of camera phone phones, the "Mobile Phone Photo Show."
