From picturephoning.com I learned that today the first "mobile to TV" service would be launched, enabling camera phone users in the U.K. to transmit photos to a television program for display during the program.
According to the press release from Requestec, a London-based messaging company, the Game Network (a TV channel for computer gamers) on Sky TV will begin accepting photos from camera phones. The phone also will appear whenever the sender transmits a text message for the live TV chat feature.
The service was launced in conjunction with Cellcast Interactive and cellular operator MMO2.
The service will employ Requestec's message distribution server that accommodates multiple messaging formats, such as SMS, MMS and e-mail.
The company provides few details on the Web about the "mobile to TV" service, at least none that I could fine with the exception of the brief press release.
The ability to send MMS-pictures as well as text messages to TV-shows has been available on some of the major tv-channels here in Norway for quite a while.
Norwegian broadcaster NRK has its music video-jukebox show running every day where the viewers can send in their pictures via MMS.
