Sony Ericsson has announced two camera phones that are designed to work on the higher speed GSM EDGE networks: The 1.3 megapixel S710a (see left) with a CCD sensor and the VGA 500i that also includes push-to-talk, the press release says. Both models will be available in the fourth quarter of this year.
The S710a, designed for the Americas, is a high end phone that's part of the S700 family (that I previously discussed).
The Z500i, (see right) for Europe and Asia, is more of a mass market phone than the S700 handsets. But today's "mass market" handset was yesterday's high end phone. A quick look at the specifications shows the range of multimedia capabilities as well as the push-to-talk feature that could make the phone attractive to business users. The handset includes MP3 capabilities, a video player, Java, synchronization for Windows and Apple computers and multiplayer games.
