U.K.-based EMC research says in its latest World Cellular Handset Tracker research report that Samsung is by far the largest manufacturer of multimedia handsets. The report says Samsung offers more than 60 MMS-enabled cellular phones compared to 18 from Nokia (see below).
The World Cellular Handset Tracker covers 17 countries: Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, Columbia, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Mexico, South Korea, Spain, Turkey, U.K. and the U.S. In the second quarter of 2004, Samsung released nine MMS handsets for those markets, compared to five handsets from LG, four from Motorola and three each from Nokia and Sony Ericsson, the report says.
"These figures underline Samsung's strategy of capturing more market share by incorporating multi media functionality on more of its handsets than rival vendors," EMC's press release says.
