All About Symbian has posted a detailed review about the use and concept of Nokia's Lifeblog software and likes the idea. Rafe, who reviewed the software, says he didn't truly understand its value until he began to use it (see below).
I've written about Lifeblog before, when Nokia and TypePad teamed up to create Lifeblog-compatible weblog/moblog templates, such as one I'm using, and when Nokia announced the availability of the Lifeblog beta software.
The software enables users to create a timeline for all the messaging information on their computer and phone -- SMS, e-mail, camera phone photos and video clips -- and to view thumbnails of the information on the PC and handset.
Easy transfer, storage, viewing
The author, Rafe, notes, that he hasn't taken a huge number of camera phone photos and was skeptical about Lifeblog's value. But he has changed his mind after using the program.
After using Lifeblog, "you appreciate that this program allows for much greater use of your phones media capturing tools. This is because it facilitates easy transfer, easy storing and most importantly easy viewing on the PC.
"The concept of a multimedia diary is suddenly a lot less naff when you use it as a record of what you've been doing, or to show photos and videos off to friends. Instead of loosing pictures somewhere on your hard disk they are readily accessible."
Encourage picture taking
Rafe continues, "I found that I actually started taking more picture (thinking, 'got to record this for...'), and as a result I now have rather a nice record stretching back about 3 months of the things I've been up to. Of course some things get more coverage than other....
"People also feature heavily -- partly because the phone seem to be best at that sort of photo and partly because one of the strongest uses is recording a 'face-roll' of the people you meet."
Worth using, worth reading
Rafe says one problem for Nokia will be convincing people to use Lifeblog. But once they use the feature, it will become a regular part of their tools.
This is a good article to help you learn more about the concept and practical aspects of Lifeblog.
