The U.S. House of Representatives yesterday passed the Video Voyeurism Prevention Act of 2003 (S. 1301) that makes it illegal to photograph parts of a person's body or undergarments without the person's consent. The Senate previously passed a similar version of the measure.
The House and Senate now meet to resolve the differences between the two bills and then the bill will be sent to the President for his signature (that is expected).
I provided more details about this bill in May when the House Judiciary Committee approved the bill.
For Federal lands only
S. 1301 covers actions on Federal lands only and is designed to serve as a model for laws that could be passed by state, notes Rep. Mike Oxley (R-Ohio), who authored the bill, according to a report in InternetNews.
