J.D. Power and Associates' "2004 U.S. Wireless Mobile Phone Evaluation Study" reports that camera phone ownership has increased from four percent in 2003 to 15 percent in 2004, the company says.
Fifty seven percent of handsets purchased in 2004 include color screens compared to 17 percent in 2003, the study says. The average reported cost for a new handset purchased in 2004 was $99, compared to $88 in 2003 -- the first increase since 1999.
Sanyo, Samsung and LG rank the highest in customer satisfaction and the typical cellular phone replacement time is 18 months.
