Orb Networks has just announced a platform enabling mobile devices -- including those using cellular and WiFi -- to easily access multimedia content located on your own PC or on the Internet.\, according to the company's press release.
The company says, "Orb’s solution is the first of its kind to allow consumers instant mobile access to all kinds of their digital media - securely, through password protected accounts. Using any Web browser, Orb provides a simple, intuitive interface to the user’s content located on their home PC or on the Internet."
James Behrens, CEO of Orb Networks, says in the press release, "We have found a way to bring consumers what they want –- simple access at any time. Consumers can watch live TV on their laptop while in a WiFi café, schedule a DVR recording through their PDA, or even listen to their music on their cell phone while jogging, biking or shopping.
"We think this is extremely viral technology, taking the 'home' out of ‘home media.'"
Pricing
The service will be available in the middle of November for $9.99 per month or $79,99 per year. Additional users on the same account are charged $3.99 per month or $29.99 per year.
The service is free for two months if you sign up by the end of December 2004.
