Texas Instruments (TI) is supplying its multimedia chipset, OMAP-DM270 (see below), for Samsung's camera phone that includes a hard disk drive, TI announced.
The camera subsystem of the OMAP-DM270 includes:
* On-chip 180 MHz programmable SIMD image processing engine (iMX)
* On-chip image processing buffers (2x 8 Kbytes)
* Variable-length coding and decoding (VLC/VLD) coprocessor for image/video compression
* Preview engine for live view and digital zoom
* Hardware pixel pre-processor
* Real-time auto-focus, auto-white balance, and auto-exposure statistics
The chipset is capable of supporting MPEG 4 video at 30 frames per second.
