Handset manufacturers are developing camera phones that contain two cameras, reports Korea IT News.
Nokia, Samsung, LG Electronics and Pantech are among the companies developing these "dual camera phones" for 3G networks. One of Nokia's dual camera phone is the 6680 with a 1.3 megapixel and a VGA camera. The 6680 include PictBridge printing technology.
Samsung will offer three dual camera handsets out of ten WCDMA handsets it will offer to European cellular operators during the first half of this year, the article says. One model, the SGH-Z500, will target young women with a "stylish design in [a] compact size."
Samsung is aiming at offering dual camara phones for more than 300 euros ($396).
LG, Pantech plans
LG plans to supply dual camera phones in March. Pantech plans to offer dual camera phones in South Korea and Europe in the second half of 2005.
According to a Pantech official, "Dual camera phone is not designed based on a new technology in [a] real sense. The market for high-end models with high prices is expected to grow first."
