Largan Precision, one of Taiwan's major optical lens manufacturers, says 60 percent of its camera phone lenses will be VGA and 40 percent will be 1.3 megapixels in 2005, according to DigiTimes.
Lenses for camera phones are expected this year to generate 65 percent of the company's revenues, a significant increase from 35 percent in 2004.
However, Largan didn't meet its financial goals for last year. The article says, "A miscalculation in the company’s business strategy to develop lens modules for camera phones as well as large non-operating losses mainly accounted for the lower than expected financial performance last year, according to company chairman Scott Lin."
