I haven't been posting as much as I should because I've been busy with my wireless data consulting work and also attending Qualcomm's BREW 2005 conference in San Diego last week.
During the conference, John Stratton, the chief marketing officer at Verizon Wireless, discussed his company's experience with -- surprise! -- BREW and CDMA wireless data products and services in general. You may view his presentation as well as other presentations and videos on the Qualcomm Web site.
Stratton showed statistics for SMS and picture messaging from the first quarter of 2003 to the first quarter of 2005. SMS has grown from about 500 million during the first quarter of 2003 to more than 3.5 billion during the first quarter of 2005 (see below).
Picture messaging has increased from zero messages in the first and second quarter of 2003 to fewer than five million photos transmitted in the third quarter of 2003 to more than 40 million photos transmitted in the first quarter of 2005 (see below).
More about BREW 2005
I wrote a bit more about the conference on the CTIA Wireless Internet Caucus weblog that I write, including information about Qualcomm's new graphical interface, uiOne.
