More than half of the cellular phones released in 2005 by Samsung Electronics and LG Electronics include camera phones, according to an article in Telecoms Korea.

The article quotes Daeshin Securities that says Samsung and LG will, combined, ship a total of 158.49 million cellular phones in 2005 and 80.4 million of that number (50.7 percent) comprises camera phones.  Daeshin says Samsung and LG in 2006 will ship 189.45 million handsets, of which 175 million (56.7 percent) will be camera phones.

The article notes, "Daeshin said that demands for handsets supporting video streaming and 3D games would be on the upward path.  Their contribution to sales would be increase from 4.9% this year to 11.1% next year, Daeshin predicted."
