From “MoCo.News” I see that the largest media organization in India, the Times Group, and Reuters, have launched “Times Now,” a 24–hour English news channel that has debuted a few days before it will be available for television viewers.
The service was launched by Reliance IndiaMobile, the largest cellular operator in India. The operator already offers a large number of video clips for news, sports, entertainment and finance.
The press release says, “In keeping with contemporary times, this is a first — the launch of a TV channel on a mobile phone even before it is available for television viewers on cable networks.” Subscribers with Nokia 6255 or Nokia 6235 handsets may watch the news in a streaming formats while subscribers with other handsets may access the service on demand.
“Times Now is a channel of big stories and endeavours to keep the urbanites in-sync with the important and relevant developments from the world of news throughout the day,” the release says.
India is an extremely dynamic cellular market and the country’s cellular operators offer a huge variety of services.
