I've been testing Nokia's new two megapixel camera phone, the N70, and established a weblog with some test photos and a couple of videos (see below). There will be many more photos and videos to come.
For a camera phone, the photos and videos are rather good. Don't judge the quality just from what I've posted. I've seen much better N70 photos and videos and hope to give the camera "more of an opportunity" to take better photos!
Compared to a regular digital camera, though, the features and quality aren't as good. I wish there was, for example, a way to increase or decrease the exposure in increments. I also wish there was an optical zoom, not just a digital zoom.
Nice features
From a camera phone standpoint there are a few nice features with this candybar-shaped handset. I discuss some of the features in the first posting on my "Nokia N70 Weblog."
The N70 is a Series 60 Symbian phone so it's got lots of bells and whistles.
Blogger relations program
As I mentioned in that first post, I'm part of what Nokia is calling a "blogger relations program" where bloggers are getting to test a few of the hottest Nokia phones. A participant in the program gets the phone, a few accessories (I have a GPS add-on I haven't yet tested) and a prepaid SIM card with a modest (definitely not unlimited) amount of free airtime.
The blogger relations programs is operated by Andy Abramson of Comunicano, who also writes "VoIP Watch" and is the co-host of the regular technology podcast "KenRadio Show."
Andy writes a Nokia weblog for the N70 as well as a Nokia weblog for the N90. The weblog entries don't have a lot of information about the handsets but they link to articles from other bloggers that often have excellent reviews.
If you're thinking about getting a feature-rich phone with an excellent camera and video capabilities, check out those weblog entries. I don't think the N70 is available in the United States, yet.

This is a great phone indeed and love it to bits, Nokia always ain to please and they have done it again, click on phones review and see more.

Just got the Nokia N70 my self, the camera(s) are cool (work well I think) and I like the 3D games, nice touch!

Hi Ed,
The N70 is a slider phone with the slider functioning as a cover for the lens and the flash. The slider makes it a bit difficult to ** immediately ** take a photo if you want to take a picture, but it's certainly worth the tradeoff.
You're certainly right that megapixels alone don't make for good photos.
I agree that the N80 specs look better. Perhaps Nokia will send me that phone, too, to test!

Me, I'm waiting for Nokia N80, mainly because of the features set (wifi, Bluetooth, 3-MP camera, bigger display). If the N80 had GPS and a display resolution of 16 million colors instead of 262K, then it'd be perfect. And a lens cover! Good lord, I guess there aren't any photographers at Nokia because they make a 3-MP camera phone without a lens cover. I'm aware that megapixels don't make the camera, but if it's a choice between my S710a and some other 1.3-MP camera phone, I'll keep my S710a for a few more months.
