A U.K. company, A Living Picture, aims to offer a digital picture frame that works with Windows Vista, offers wireless and wired connectivity options and can display Windows information overlaid on the screen (see below), according to the company’s press release and an article in engadget.
The product was displayed during Microsoft’s Windows Hardware Engineering Conference (WinHEC). The picture frame uses Microsoft’s Windows SideShow capabilities that enables devices to display such data as notifications of a VoIP call, weather information, stock quotes and e-mail notifications.
A Living Picture’s Web site is pretty bare of information, though it says the president/COO and the CEO have extensive experience in wireless.
Data access
The press release says data can be streamed to the picture frame around a house or office.
There’s no indication of a camera phone tie-in or what the wireless connectivity will be — WiFi, Bluetooth, infrared, etc.
