A new Web site, MyTago.com, has been launched with barcode-like tags that are designed as “bookmarks” snapped with a camera phone and then transferred to a computer that’s able to retrieve the information (see below).
The barcode-type graphic is a new format. You can either take a photo of the graphic or write down the 12–digit code and send it to MyTago.
The concept is information is sent primarily by the computer and viewed on the computer because it’s a better experience than using a camera phone, according to Thomas of MyTago.
Why?
Thomas writes in an e-mail, “We are providing a different usage pattern. Where you don’t need special software or even data connectivity on your phone.
“All you need is a camera phone, and a way to transfer the tags to your PC using any of the flexible ways (Bluetooth/IR.SMS/email). With this model users don’t have to pay extra for mobile data connectivity to send and receive the tag data results on the phone.”
MyTags provides the ways to create and edit your own tags and to share them.
