It’s good to see a newspaper writing about practical, everyday applications of camera phones, such as the article in Columbia, S.C.’s The State.
The article lists ten quite useful applications for camera phones when you don’t have a digital camera. The applications are:
• If you’re involved in a traffic accident, you can use the cell phone’s camera to photograph the cars before any of them are moved.
• Snap a picture of where you park your car at at the mall or at an airport. (I once spent an hour looking for my car in a garage at the Charlotte airport.)
• Take room-by-room shots of your home for insurance purposes.
• If you’re at the library with no cash for a copier, use the camera to take a picture of reference information you need.
• Take a picture of your medication bottles in case you need to call in a refill, or tell another doctor what you are already taking.
• Document the price of an item you see on the shelf in case you’re charged the wrong price at the register.
• Take photos of furniture and fixtures so you can look at them again at home. Also, take pictures of designs in stores for ideas for your own room designs.
• Photograph any damage to packages delivered to you before you open the package.
• Take photos of parts you need to replace in your home or car before heading to the parts store.
• Snap a photo of an error message on your computer screen so you don’t have to write down the long string of numbers on the screen.
