David Westendorf (see below; on left, talking to Smith Micro executive on right), senior director for mobile services at Kodak Mobile, provided an excellent overview of the problems, demographics and challenges of camera phones during his solo presentation at Qualcomm's BREW 2006 conference in San Diego. Yes, I could have used my four megapixel, optical zoom Canon, but I wanted to test the capabilities of the N90 (with only a digital zoom, that I did not use).
And one of the most important slides that highlights major consumer gripes about camera phones (although the problems are getting better)….
I’ve got more slides, but I’m too tired to post them, and perhaps you don’t want to see them all anyway.
Also, it’s quite possible Qualcomm will post a video of his complete presentation in a day or two.
Update (6/12/06): Qualcomm has indeed posting the video of David's presentation. Go to the company's BREW 2006 video presentation section and search for "camera phone" or for session BIZ-401 and you'll find his entire presentation.
In fact, there are some really interesting other videos. Bravo to Qualcomm for publishing the videos of these presentations.
