A survey by Nokia of 5,500 people in 11 countries reports. that, globally, 42 percent of people expect to use a camera phone as their primary camera, notes an article in BBC News (http://news.google.com/news?ie=utf8&oe=utf8&persist=1&hl=en&client=google&ncl=http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/5048966.stm).
Sixty eight percent of subscribers in India would use the phone as their main camera. In the United States, though, 89 percent of those surveyed said they expect to use a digital camera as their primary camera as well as carrying a cellular phone.
Nokia reports that 44 percent of those surveyed already use camera phones are their main camera.
Research validity
Such research is more useful, I believe, for current camera phone usage than the future. The reason is camera phone quality is improving dramatically so what people say today is likely to be different in a year or two.
