A couple of weekends ago I spent a few hours wandering around downtown Washington, D.C. taking photos and videos with Nokia’s N90 two megapixel camera phone (see below).
I posted the photos using Pickle.com a new photo and video sharing service. The photos are neither cropped nor enhanced; you’re seeing them completely unedited.
The images are, well, okay, but not great. The light wasn’t especially good but then neither was my photography.
Rather mediocre, to say the least. I’m upset with myself!
No video compatibility
I took two videos but Pickle doesn’t accept the .mp4 files created by the N90. Pickle accepts a variety of video files and I assume it will offer .mp4 compatibility in the future.
To be quite fair, Pickle is still in the beta phase so this is still the shaking out period. I did like the easy drag-and-drop capability of moving my photos from a laptop computer to the Pickle Web-based uploader.
I’m looking for a great photo and video service that enables me to:
* Post videos in any format
* Post high-resolution photos that may be viewed in a variety of ways ranging from low resolution thumbnails to high resolution downloads to a PC
* Create a variety of albums for different subjects where my photos and videos can be displayed in a “story” type of format such as, for example, Tabblo. (Tabblo doesn’t accept videos.)
* Easy, simpe video editing tools such as cutting and pasting, basic transitions
Other N90 photos
I posted other N90 photos, of a day on Nantucket Island in Massachusetts, on textamerica.
And, if you haven’t seen them already, check out the great N90 photos by Martin Geddes.
