Lyra Research will hold a free camera phone webcast -- "Pictures at Hand: The Burgeoning Camera Phone Market" -- on September 13 at 2:00 p.m. EDT.
Steve Hoffenberg, Lyra's director of consumer imaging research, will present the webcast that will cover "forecast data, survey findings, and insightful analysis on the looming opportunities and threats created by this now ubiquitous class of handheld imaging devices."
Hoffenberg says in the company's press release, "Consider this: By 2009, the cumulative number of camera phones shipped since the inception of the camera phone category in this millennium will exceed the total number of all film and digital cameras shipped in the entire history of photography since the 1800s.
"It is a mind-boggling forecast that is really shaking up all corners of the consumer imaging world."
I agree that it's mind-boggling but it's also society-changing. I signed up for the webcast.
