Research in Motion enables companies to disable camera in new Pearl phone

Research in Motion enables corporations to disable the 1.3 megapixel camera in its new Pearl 8100 cellular phone, (see below), according to the BB [BlackBerry] Hub weblog.

Corporations may disable the camera companywide or on an individual basis.

As the BB Hub says, "You go about it by accessing the 'Camera Policy Group' rules in your BlackBerry Device Software 4.2.  You'll need to go to the IT Policies section of your BlackBerry Enterprise Server to do so."

Is this the first time any handset manufacturer has offered a way to disable the camera in a handset?  I haven't heard of any other manufacturer doing it, and I can see where this could be a great feature....assuming employees would be able to use the camera when they are not at work.
