I'm on my way to Dublin to participate in the camera phone conference (see previous entry).
Here's a barcode-type announcement I'm posting at Washington, D.C.'s Dulles Airport about OP3's ShotCodes (barcode-like images) from OP3's Web site:
"For the first time ever an on-pack mobile barcode scanning campaign is launched outside of Asia.
"Forty million Sprite bottles have been labeled with ShotCodes, circular barcodes that can be scanned with standard camera mobile phones that have the ShotCode software installed.
"ShotCodes, created by Dutch/Swedish OP3 and implemented by Mexican KTC and Codice, connect users instantly to Sprite’s mobile web page.
"The technology functions much in the same way as you would expect from a normal barcode scanner, you are however using your standard camera mobile phone.
"Once scanned a Sprite trivia question is automatically presented. Answer this question correctly and you’ll instantly know if you’ve won one of millions of prizes.
"The prizes range from free pizzas at Dominos Pizza to DVD’s at Blockbuster Video. Every winner receives his/her prize instantly in the form of a jpeg image.
"This image is a digital coupon that contains a unique code to claim your prize, an innovative mechanism introduced in this campaign for the first time.
"The campaign is supported by 8 weeks of TV, radio and in-store advertising and, according to OP3’s founder and creative director Dennis Hettema, millions of Mexicans have compatible mobile phones."
