AllAfrica.com has posted an article from Business Daily in Kenya about the effects of camera phones and notes that the photographic business of some merchants is suffering in Nairobi.
“Workers at a photo studio along Banda Street in Nairobi say they have lost considerable business because they no longer develop as many pictures as they used to do,” the article says. A sales clerk at one store says that with people using digital equipment, the only business the store can count on is passport and visa photos.
The article also discusses an amazing amateur video “Battle At Krueger,” on YouTube and on ABC’s I-Caught that shows a baby water buffalo captured by lions, then falling in the water and being attacked by crocodiles, being dragged up to the bank by the lions and finally saved by the herd of water buffaloes.
Although the article focuses on camera phones, I think the video was taken with a camcorder. Anyone know for sure? The point is that nature photographers kill for this type of dramatic footage, but an amateur caught it by being at the right time and place with a camcorder.
